Dr. Carron has spent 33 years continually learning about the latest techniques and new technologies that dentistry has to offer. He invests in state-of-the-art equipment, which we use to ensure that you have the most comfortable and efficient experience possible.
Read on to learn more about the technology you will see us using at Stanford Dental and how it will benefit you.

Digital Impressions
Digital impressions provide a precise and accurate image of your tooth when you need a restoration such as a dental crown or bridge. Digital impressions help us ensure a better fit for your restoration and eliminate the messy and uncomfortable impressions used in the past.

Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays provide images that are clear and more accurate immediately after they’re taken. They emit less radiation for our patients and leave no footprint on the environment since there are no harmful chemicals needed for development. Since digital x-rays are ready for review right after they are taken, Dr. Carron is able to review them with you and discuss treatment recommendations in a more timely manner.

Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera helps our patients have a better understanding of their treatment needs by providing full-color pictures of the inside of their mouth, including their teeth and gums. When you can see exactly what is happening in your mouth, you can make better decisions about the treatment that is right for your needs.

Laser Dentistry
The dental laser has really revolutionized the way that we can care for our patients who are struggling with their periodontal health. The laser combines concentrated light and heat to eliminate bacteria and remove diseased tissue with precision so it doesn’t affect healthy tissue, and without cutting. The laser also sterilizes the area, which accelerates the healing process and makes the procedure more comfortable for our patients.

Digital Panoramic X-Rays
Digital panoramic x-rays give a full view of your teeth, mouth, and jawbone and joint all in one picture. This type of x-ray can be useful for planning implant treatment, checking the health and progress of wisdom teeth, and detecting cysts or other abnormalities in the jaw. Digital images expose patients to 80% less radiation than traditional x-rays taken in the past.

Air Abrasion
Wouldn’t it be great if you could have a cavity filled without having to be numb or hear the dental drill? Air abrasion makes this possible! Using a method similar to sand blasting, air abrasion delivers a strong blast of air to your tooth that eliminates the decay and prepares it for a dental filling.
This technique works best when decay is detected in its earliest stages and you are proactive about completing treatment.

VELscope
VELscope is special light system that Dr. Carron uses for every new patient and once each year for established patients to screen for oral cancer. VELscope utilizes blue light to detect changes or abnormalities in your soft tissue. VELscope is able to help Dr. Carron see changes that might be missed with just an examination so oral cancer can be detected and treated as early as possible.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is a gas that you can breathe safely during your dental procedure. It works fast to help you feel relaxed, at ease, and sometimes even euphoric, which is why it’s also called laughing gas. Nitrous is an excellent options for patients who feel anxious or fearful about visiting the dentist. It leaves your system when you take the mask off, so it’s completely safe for you to continue your normal daily activities. It’s also safe for children to use. Let Dr. Carron know if you are interested in using nitrous for your dental visits.
